This stunning piece is handcrafted in Japan from Yakusugi, over 1000 year old japanese cedar trees that grow in a primeval forest on Yakushima. It was the combination of Yakushima’s abundant natural resources and stunning beauty that led its forest to be designated as a World Heritage Site. Harvested only when fallen due to natural causes, this cedar is thinly sliced and woven with silk by an artisan into a sustainable textile that maintains the appearance of the wood’s natural grain. The Table Runner is showcased in a handcrafted paulownia wood box, creating an object that is not only rich in visual interest, but has a heritage and story all of its own.
