akitasugi placemats

from $40.00

The Akitasugi Tableware is the first part in a series of placemats and coasters by Studio Jason Brown. Utilizing a combination of processes to laminate thinly sliced veneer with cork, these pieces are handcrafted in Japan from cedar trees that grow in forests in the Akita prefecture. Presented in a resin tray made with encapsulated coastal grass, this collection draws inspiration from Japanese nature and echoes Studio Jason Brown’s belief that a product should be as well presented when not in use as it is when in use.

Sold individually. Tray set includes a set of 8 plus handmade tray.

PNW and Seattle are having one of the coldest springs in history. When I moved here in the 90’s I was told “summer does not start until July 5th”. It really feels far away today. #imreadyforsummer #lifesimplyelevated
